How it works
ClipBrook reads the background color from the outer border of each image. Along the edge of the
subject most pixels are a mixture of that background and the subject itself, so ClipBrook works
out how much of each is in the pixel: one that is half background comes out half transparent.
Background color that has bounced onto the subject's rim is replaced with color taken from
further inside the subject. The output is a PNG with a transparent background.
Cutting runs in worker threads on your own computer, at the image's own size, so a 4096 px
render is cut at 4096 px. How long that takes depends on the size of the image and on the
computer you are using. A file can be up to 8192 px on a side and 80 MB, and there is no limit on how many you drop at

What it does not do
It does not work on photographs. A photo has no key color to remove. The same goes for a render
whose background is a scene, a texture or plain white: there is no single color to measure. For
those images, use a background remover that runs a matting model.
If the key color also appears in the subject, ClipBrook removes it there too, because it cannot
keep a color it is deleting. Every cut carries a quality check that names that case when it

Generate on a key color
The cut is only as good as the background you rendered on. Ask the generator for one flat color
and keep the subject away from the edges of the frame; shadows, gradients, vignettes and texture
all have to go.
Use blue for plants and foliage. Use red for blue or purple subjects. Green is the wrong key for
anything with leaves or plants. Their own green gets removed with the background. The guide has
